The railways in Stockholm-Mälardalen are continuously being maintained and improved. This means that parts of the railway network periodically need to be completely, or partially shut down.

The information about planned track work is preliminary, exactly how the trains will run during this time is determined in more detail closer to that period.

Please note that travel time may be longer than usual when trains are replaced by buses.

2026

June

Västerås–Sala

Period: June 7–18
Affected line: Linköping–Eskilstuna–Västerås–Sala
Trains will be replaced by buses between Västerås and Sala from Sunday, June 7 to Thursday, June 18 due to track work involving the renewal of switches and rails.

Linköping–Norrköping

Period: June 8–14
Affected line: Linköping–Eskilstuna–Västerås–Sala
Trains will be replaced by buses between Linköping and Norrköping from Monday, June 8 to Sunday, June 14 due to track maintenance work.

Flen–Katrineholm/Hallsberg

Period: June 19-21 

Affected lines: Hallsberg-Katrineholm-Stockholm
                             Linköping-Eskilstuna-Västerås-Uppsala

Trains will be replaced by buses during midsummer weekend from June 19 15:00 to Sunday Jun2 21 22:00 on the routesFlen–Hallsberg and Flen–Katrineholm.

Västerås Area

Period: 25 June – 30 July

During the summer, several track maintenance projects will affect train services to, from, and via Västerås.

• Several train services will be cancelled and replaced by buses, mainly on the routes Västerås–Eskilstuna, Västerås–Sala, and Arboga–Eskilstuna.
• Evening and night-time engineering works will take place throughout much of the period, resulting in recurring disruptions.
• From 20–30 July, trains will operate on a single track with reduced speeds.
• Longer journey times and revised departure times will occur across the entire area.

Please check your journey in the journey planner and allow extra time for travel, especially when transferring to replacement bus services.

Augusti

Örebro–Arboga

Period: 11–18 August

Affected line: Örebro–Eskilstuna–Stockholm–Uppsala

Train services will be replaced by buses between Arboga and Örebro from Tuesday 11 August at 06:00 until Tuesday 18 August at 02:00 due to track maintenance work near Hovsta.

September

Flen–Katrineholm

Period: 4–6 September

Affected lines:

• Hallsberg–Katrineholm–Stockholm
• Linköping–Eskilstuna–Västerås–Uppsala

Train services will be replaced by buses between Friday 4 September and Sunday 6 September at 14:00 on the Flen–Katrineholm section.

Gnesta-Hallsberg

Period: 25–28 September

Affected lines:

• Hallsberg–Katrineholm–Stockholm
• Linköping–Eskilstuna–Västerås–Uppsala

Train services will be replaced by buses from Friday 25 September at 22:00 until Monday 28 September at 05:00 on the Gnesta–Flen–Katrineholm–Hallsberg section.

October

Gnesta-Hallsberg

Period: 9–12 October

Affected lines:

• Hallsberg–Katrineholm–Stockholm
• Linköping–Eskilstuna–Västerås–Uppsala

Train services will be replaced by buses from Friday 9 October at 22:00 until Monday 12 October at 05:00 on the Gnesta–Flen–Katrineholm–Hallsberg sections.

November

Södertälje Syd–Gnesta

Södertälje Syd–Vagnhärad

Period: 6–8 November

Affected lines:

• Hallsberg–Katrineholm–Stockholm
• Norrköping–Nyköping–Stockholm

Train services will be replaced by buses from Friday 6 November at 22:00 until Sunday 8 November at 14:00 on the Södertälje Syd–Gnesta and Södertälje Syd–Vagnhärad sections.
