When purchasing your ticket, you can choose between Adult and Youth/Student. Here’s what applies for each traveler type:
You pay the adult fare from the day you turn 20.
If you are between 7–19 years old or studying at least 75% full-time, a discounted price applies.
As a student, you need to be able to show ID and a valid student ID with the SL symbol on board the train. Read more about traveling as a student here.
Starting June 1, we are once again raising the age limit for accompanying children from 6 years old to 11 years old inclusive. This year, the Movingo period ticket is also included in the campaign.
Each paying passenger may bring up to two children free of charge, regardless of passenger category. This means you do not need to purchase separate tickets for accompanying children (ages 0–11). However, if you are traveling with more than two children per paying passenger, you will need to purchase youth tickets for the additional children.
Valid for tickets purchased in the Mälardalstrafik app or here at malardalstrafik.se.
For tickets purchased through other sales channels, the regular age limit applies – two children aged 6 and under per paying passenger.
The campaign runs from June 1 to August 31 2026.
