New in the app – monitor your journey
In September 2025, we launched even more new features in the app that give you real-time traffic information before and during your journey.
Monitor your favorite journeys
You can now easily monitor specific departures directly in the app – both for single trips and for the days you commute regularly. The function works equally well whether you have a Movingo ticket or are traveling with a single ticket.
When you monitor a departure, you will receive notifications directly on your phone in case of delays, track changes, or other traffic disruptions. This way, you always have up-to-date information at hand.
To get started, log in to My Account. Select the trip you want to monitor, tap the clock icon, and choose whether the monitoring should apply temporarily or on a recurring basis. You can easily turn monitoring on and off whenever you want, without it being deleted.
Search station and departure
You can search for a station to see all departures/arrivals, or search for a specific train number to get current information about times and any traffic changes. This function has already been available in the app, but soon it will be fully integrated in both the app and on the web in Mälardalstrafik’s design, and your latest search will be saved automatically for the next time you search.
Other features in the app
Follow your journey
When you buy a single ticket with Mälartåg, your trip will automatically appear on the start screen of your digital ticket. You’ll find information about the entire journey, including intermediate stations, any transfers, and traffic disruptions.
Follow any departure
Follow any Mälartåg departure by clicking on the pin in the upper right corner when selecting a departure in the app’s travel planner. This works for both single tickets and Movingo departures. The pinned trip can then be followed from the start screen of the app – useful if, for example, you want to track the journey your child is making on their own.
Real-time traffic disruptions
Already when searching for your journey in the app and on the web, you can see any traffic disruptions related to your search. This works for both single tickets and Movingo departures.
Traffic info on purchased tickets
In the app, you’ll also find real-time traffic information directly on your purchased digital ticket.
Push notifications for your single ticket
If you’ve purchased a single ticket for a specific departure, you’ll receive push notifications in the app with updates and traffic disruptions both before departure and during your trip.
Track your journey in the app
When you purchase a single ticket with Mälartåg, you can follow the journey in the app. Your journey will automatically appear on the start screen of your digital ticket. In the detailed view, you’ll see the entire journey, including intermediate stations, any transfers, and traffic disruptions. If there are changes to the train’s arrival or departure times, you’ll see them here as well.
Follow any departure
You can choose to follow any Mälartåg journey by clicking the pin icon in the upper right corner when selecting a departure in the app’s journey planner. This works for both single tickets and Movingo departures. You can then follow the selected journey from the app’s start screen.
Where the traffic information comes from
All traffic information in the app is automatically retrieved from the Swedish Transport Administration’s database and is always preliminary, meaning that departure and arrival times may be moved earlier or later. The Mälartåg app always shows the same information as the station departure boards.
