Traffic impact
The Swedish Transport Administration is carrying out work between Södertälje and Järna as part of the construction of the new Ostlänken railway. The work affects two of Mälartåg’s lines:
• Norrköping–Nyköping–Stockholm
• Hallsberg–Katrineholm–Stockholm
Expect longer travel times and changed departure times. Check your journey in the app or here on malardalstrafik.se for the updated timetable.
Between Norrköping, Nyköping and Stockholm
Plan ahead and allow extra time, as travel times and departure times will change. For example, the travel time between Nyköping and Stockholm will be extended by 30–60 minutes, depending on the time and direction.
Vagnhärad–Södertälje Syd
From Friday, November 14 at 22:00 until Sunday, November 16 at 14:00, trains will be replaced by buses between Vagnhärad and Södertälje Syd. Connections to other trains towards Stockholm will be available at Södertälje Syd.
Vagnhärad–Södertälje Syd–Stockholm
About ten departures will be replaced by buses for the entire route between Vagnhärad and Stockholm, with a stop at Södertälje Syd.
The buses will not stop at Flemingsberg (except for the final departure in the evening).
Vagnhärad–Norrköping
Trains between Vagnhärad and Norrköping will run as usual.
Alternative travel options
Sörmlandstrafiken’s bus 802 operates between Trosa–Vagnhärad–Södertälje Syd/Centrum. A valid ticket for Sörmlandstrafiken or a Movingo ticket valid for Sörmlandstrafiken is required.
Passengers with a Movingo ticket that includes Vagnhärad and Stockholm can travel on the Trosabussen service (Trosa–Vagnhärad–Liljeholmen, Stockholm).

Between Hallsberg, Katrineholm and Stockholm
Plan ahead and allow extra time, as travel times and departure times will change.
Hallsberg–Katrineholm–Södertälje Syd
From Friday, November 14 at 22:00 until Sunday, November 16 at 14:00, trains will be replaced by buses between Hallsberg, Katrineholm and Södertälje Syd. Connections to other trains towards Stockholm will be available at Södertälje Syd. Expect travel times to be 90–120 minutes longer, as well as changed departure and arrival times.
Hallsberg–Katrineholm
From 14:00 on Sunday, November 16 and for the rest of the day, trains will continue to be replaced by buses between Hallsberg and Katrineholm, while train service resumes as normal between Katrineholm–Södertälje Syd–Stockholm.
Alternative travel options
It may be possible to travel with Mälartåg via Eskilstuna, depending on departure and route. Check your journey in the app or on malardalstrafik.se for the updated timetable and suggested travel routes.
Upcoming track work
During the weekend of November 21–24, trains will be replaced by buses between Hallsberg and Katrineholm.

Why train service is suspended
The Swedish Transport Administration is building Ostlänken, a new double-track railway between Järna and Linköping. The purpose is to modernize the infrastructure and create faster and more reliable train travel in the future.
