Check the timetable

Every summer we make some adjustments to our train services, as travel patterns change during the holiday and school break period. This year, the summer timetable will be in effect from 14 June to 17 August.

Some routes will operate as usual, while others will have slightly fewer departures during all or part of the period. So be sure to double-check departure times when planning your trip.

You’ll find all departure times in our app and at mälardalstrafik.se.

We wish you a pleasant journey and a wonderful summer!

Summer service 14 June–17 August

Here’s a quick overview of this summer’s train services – line by line:

Hallsberg–Katrineholm–Stockholm

On weekdays, trains run hourly during peak hours. Midday and from around 17:00, departures are every two hours. Weekend service remains unchanged, with trains every two to three hours between Vingåker, Katrineholm and Stockholm, and slightly less frequent service between Hallsberg and Vingåker.

Örebro–Eskilstuna–Stockholm–Uppsala

Örebro/Arboga–Eskilstuna

Trains run as usual: hourly between Eskilstuna–Kungsör–Arboga/Örebro, and every two hours on weekends. On weekdays around midday and on public holidays, trains turn around in Arboga. Passengers continuing to Örebro are referred to connecting SJ trains.

Eskilstuna–Stockholm

Trains depart hourly on weekdays. During morning and afternoon peak hours, some trains run every 30 minutes, although not as many as in spring. Instead, more trains operate with increased capacity.

Stockholm–Uppsala

From 23 June to 3 August, trains depart every 30 minutes in both directions all day, weekdays and weekends. Every other departure goes via Arlanda and the rest via Märsta. During the first and last weeks of the summer timetable, extra peak-hour services will be added.

Uppsala–Gävle

Trains run hourly, with additional half-hourly departures on weekday mornings and afternoons.

Uppsala–Sala–Västerås–Eskilstuna–Linköping

Uppsala–Sala

Hourly departures during peak hours, every two hours at other times – same as the rest of the year.

Sala–Västerås–Eskilstuna

Weekday service is hourly, and every two hours on weekends. On weekdays between 07:00–09:00 and parts of the afternoon peak, some extra half-hourly departures are added. Note: direct weekend buses between Västerås and Eskilstuna take a summer break from 16 June to 15 August.

Eskilstuna–Katrineholm–Norrköping

From 16 June to 17 August, trains run hourly during most of the weekday and every two hours at other times. The early morning bus Katrineholm–Norrköping (and back) takes a summer break from 21 June to 3 August.

Norrköping–Linköping

From 16 June to 17 August, trains depart hourly during peak hours and every two hours at other times. Some Mälartåg trains turn around in Norrköping; passengers continuing to Linköping are referred to Östgötapendeln (Östgötatrafiken).

Norrköping–Nyköping–Stockholm

Weekday trains run hourly along the entire route Norrköping–Nyköping–Stockholm. On weekends, trains generally run every two hours, but at certain times more frequent service is offered between Nyköping and Stockholm. Until Midsummer and again from 4 August, some additional weekday departures will run every 30 minutes.
