Update 23 October: Continued impact on Stockholm–Uppsala train traffic on Monday
The train traffic between Stockholm and Uppsala will continue to be affected on Monday 27 October. Trains are running again but with fewer departures due to extended track work in Knivsta.
Read more here or below under the heading “How services are affected on Monday 27 October.”
Why are the trains cancelled?
The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) is carrying out a major construction project north of Uppsala Central Station, building two grade-separated crossings to improve safety and traffic flow for cars, pedestrians, and cyclists. At the same time, a new turning track is being built to enable increased train traffic at Uppsala Central.
During the weekend of 24–26 October, work will be completed on the new turning track, all temporary tracks will be removed, and the train control system will be upgraded. Once the connection work is finished, the new railway installation will be put into operation.

The weekend will be challenging for many commuters and residents in the Uppsala area.
Mälartåg, SL, and the Swedish Transport Administration are working together to minimise disruptions and ensure safe travel for everyone who needs to travel — while these works pave the way for a more reliable railway in the future.
