New prices for single and seasonal tickets

The price for both Mälartåg single tickets and the Movingo seasonal ticket will generally increase by 2.7 percent starting on 8 January 2026, following a decision by the Mälardalstrafik board.

Single-ticket journeys from 8 January 2026 will show the new prices in the app and on the website starting from 11 December 2025. You can purchase the Movingo seasonal ticket at the current price until 7 January 2026.

Questions and answers about the new prices

When do the new prices take effect?
The new prices for single tickets apply to journeys from 8 January 2026. The new prices for Movingo tickets apply when purchasing from this date onwards.

How close to the date can I buy my journey at the old, lower price?
You can buy Movingo seasonal tickets at the current price until 7 January 2026. You can activate your Movingo ticket up to 15 days after purchase. For example, you can buy a Movingo 365-day ticket at the current price until 7 January.

Journeys with a Mälartåg single ticket that are valid from 8 January 2026 will be visible in the app and on the website from 11 December.

Why are you raising the prices?
We understand that the price of train travel is important for everyone commuting to work and studies. For us, it is also important to continue offering a stable and attractive regional train service with many departures on our five lines.

Just like in the rest of society, our costs for operating the service have increased. To maintain and develop the service, we therefore need to adjust the prices. The alternative would be to reduce the number of departures — something we want to avoid as it would negatively affect commuters and travellers throughout the Stockholm–Mälaren region.
