New timetable for 2026
On December 14, train timetables across the EU will be updated for 2026. With this timetable change, we continue to expand regional train services.
You can search and buy your Mälartåg tickets for the period December 14, 2025 – June 12, 2026 in the app or here at malardalstrafik.se.
What’s new from December 14:
Eskilstuna–Västerås–Sala
The Eskilstuna–Västerås–Sala route will have a total of 14 new departures on Saturdays and Sundays. This means hourly service throughout the entire weekend, including stops at Kvicksund, Kolbäck, and Ransta.
For travelers, this provides more frequent connections and greater flexibility. Thanks to this improvement, the supplementary bus service between Eskilstuna and Västerås, which previously ran every other hour on weekends, will be discontinued.
Västerås–Sala
Two new departures between Västerås and Sala will be added to provide more weekday trains running the full route Eskilstuna–Västerås–Sala–Uppsala (and vice versa) without transfers. As a result, departure times for two existing Eskilstuna–Västerås services will be adjusted:
-
Eskilstuna–Västerås–Uppsala: New departure at 12:22 (previously 10:22) from Eskilstuna–Västerås, now connected with the new Västerås–Sala departure that continues to Uppsala. Departure from Västerås at 12:56, arriving in Uppsala at 14:09.
-
Uppsala–Västerås–Eskilstuna: A new departure from Sala at 13:32 connects with the Västerås–Eskilstuna service departing at 14:04 (previously 13:03). This provides a continuous Uppsala–Sala–Västerås–Eskilstuna connection, departing Uppsala at 12:50.
Unchanged service on other routes
On Mälartåg’s four other routes, the service level remains the same as during autumn 2025 — a continued high number of departures every day, with 309 weekday departures and 186 departures on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Norrköping–Nyköping–Stockholm
Some departure times will be slightly adjusted on the Norrköping–Nyköping–Stockholm line to improve punctuality. By adding a few extra minutes of travel time to services previously affected by delays due to speed restrictions related to the construction of Nyköping Travel Centre, we create better conditions for trains to run on time.
You can find the updated departure times in the app or here at malardalstrafik.se.
Katrineholm–Norrköping
The early morning departure Katrineholm–Norrköping (05:55) and its return trip will continue to be operated by bus on weekdays. This will remain the only supplementary bus service included in the regular timetable during 2026.
