Movingo is a dynamic period ticket that can be used both for commuting and leisure travel. The ticket is valid on surrounding local transport and can be lent to others, allowing for many different types of journeys and flexible use.
If the train is delayed by more than 20 minutes, you are entitled to compensation under the law, regardless of the length of the journey. To calculate compensation for Movingo passengers, the period ticket price is divided by a calculation factor to determine an average price per trip.
From January 8, 2026, this factor will be adjusted, and the change means that the ticket price will be divided by the ticket’s actual number of days (see table below), resulting in equivalent compensation for Movingo travellers, whether travelling with Mälartåg or SJ.
| Movingo ticket type | Calculation factor before Jan 8, 2026 | Calculation factor from jan 8, 2026 |
| Movingo 5/30 | 10 | 10 |
| Movingo 30 days | 22 | 30 |
| Movinga 90 days | 66 | 90 |
| Movingo annual ticket | 264 | 365 |
Purchase date determines the factor
- If you purchased your ticket before January 8, 2026, the old factors apply (22, 66, or 264).
- If you purchase the ticket on or after January 8, 2026, the new factors apply (30, 90, or 365).
This means there will be a period where two parallel sets of rules for delay compensation for Movingo passengers exist.
